A swashbuckling innings from Kevin Sinclair went in vain as the American Cricket Society (ACS) produced a clinical comeback to defeat Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by five wickets, moving ahead 4-3 on the ACS Goodwill Tour of Guyana 2026.
After winning the toss and opting to bat at the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, the home side got off to a flying start, largely due to an explosive stand between Sinclair and Mavindra Dindyal.
Sinclair was at his destructive best, smashing 76 off just 38 deliveries in a knock laced with boundaries and towering sixes, while Dindyal provided excellent support with a fluent 38. The pair added a significant 89-run partnership that put ACS on the back foot early and positioned GCC for a massive total.
However, the game turned dramatically in the middle overs.
Once the partnership was broken at 114-2 , GCC suffered a stunning collapse, losing wickets in clusters as ACS tightened the screws. The momentum shifted decisively, with the visitors seizing control through disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.
At the heart of that turnaround was Keon Lake.
The right-arm bowler delivered a match-defining spell, ripping through the middle and lower order to finish with five wickets. His incisive spell halted GCC’s charge and triggered a collapse that saw the home side tumble from a position of strength to 162 all out in 20.1 overs.
In reply, ACS encountered early resistance as GCC struck at regular intervals to keep the contest alive.
At one stage, ACS were under pressure, with GCC sensing an opportunity to defend their total.
But Bhaskar Yadram once again rose to the occasion.
Continuing his impressive run on tour, Yadram stroked a composed half-century, anchoring the innings and steadily guiding ACS closer to the target. His innings of 63 off 35 brought calm to the chase and ensured the visitors remained on course despite the early hiccups.
Boodie, after his slow start, gradually found his touch and played a crucial supporting role. Showing patience and composure, he stayed with Yadram to rebuild the innings and steer ACS towards victory.
In the end, it was Boodie who fittingly struck the winning run, sealing a hard-fought five-wicket win as ACS reached 163/5 in 22.4 overs to complete a well-paced chase.
The result highlighted ACS’s ability to recover under pressure, while GCC will rue their middle-order collapse after such a dominant start.
The tour now moves to Berbice, where ACS will face the Berbice Select XI at Bush Lot on Friday. The Goodwill Tour of Guyana 2026 will conclude on Saturday at Eve Leary, where ACS are set to take on Police Sports Club in the final match.
