A masterful century from Vishan Lall guided Everest Masters to a convincing 93-run victory over Unity Masters when the teams met at the Unity Ground in a feature Masters clash.
After winning the toss, Everest Masters opted to bat and made full use of the decision, posting a formidable 250-6. The innings was built around Lall, who struck 130 in a commanding display of stroke play.
The right handed Lall was well supported by Derwin Christian, with a valuable 33, while Sahadeo Hardaiow scored 29 to keep the scoreboard ticking.
In response, Unity Masters fought hard but fell short of the target, closing on 157-7 from their allotted 20 overs. Their innings was anchored by H. Durga, whose fighting 45 kept hopes alive, but lacked sustained support from the rest of the batting lineup.
Everest’s bowlers shared the wickets around in a disciplined effort.
Richard Chaturia, Anil Beharry, Randy Lindore and Hardaiow each picked up a wicket, while Basil Persaud was adjudged the best bowler after grabbing two wickets.
Despite not being bowled out, Unity never quite managed to keep up with the required rate as Everest maintained control for most of the chase.
Behind the stumps, Hemraj Garbarran was outstanding and was rewarded with the Best Wicketkeeper trophy.
Trophies for the match were compliments of Trophy Stall, adding to a well-contested and spirited encounter at Unity.
Match Summary:
Everest Masters 250-6 (Vishan Lall 130, Derwin Christian 33, Sahadeo Hardaiow 29) defeated Unity Masters 157-7 (H. Durga 45) by 93 runs.
