The American Cricket Society (ACS) slipped to their second consecutive defeat of their Goodwill Tour of Guyana 2026 after going down by 27 runs to the Guyana Emerging Players on Monsay at the LBI Ground.
With the loss, ACS now stand on two wins and two defeats from four matches on the tour, setting the stage for another crucial outing on Tuesday at Meten-Meer-Zorg where they face off with Canal No. 2 Sports Club in the first scheduled night match of the tour.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Guyana Emerging Team piled up a competitive 210 all out in 28.3 overs.
The innings was dominated by an explosive knock from opener Ushardeva Balgobin, whose dazzling 88 from just 44 balls included 12 fours and four towering sixes. Balgobin’s aggressive stroke play put the ACS bowlers under pressure from early, helping his side to build a strong platform.
He was well supported by captain Zeynul Ramsammy, who produced a composed half-century of 62 from 47 balls. The pair shared a crucial partnership that stabilized the innings after the early loss other opener Ronaldo Jeffrey.
Despite the onslaught, ACS fought back with the ball. Off-spinner Keon Lake, led the fight with an impressive five-for ending on 5 for 32 runs. Seamer Michail Powell provided good support with three wickets for 24 as the visitors eventually dismissed the hosts.
Chasing 211, ACS began cautiously but showed glimpses of resistance through several useful partnerships. Opener Kevon Boodie struck a brisk 24, while Aldane Thomas contributed a steady 38 to help keep the chase alive.
The most significant stand came when Kwame Patton Jr counterattacked with a well-played 49 from 36 balls, an innings decorated with four fours and two sixes. His partnership with Thomas in the middle overs briefly swung the momentum in ACS’s favour as the visitors attempted to close the gap.
However, disciplined bowling and timely breakthroughs from the Emerging Team halted the progress just as the chase was building. ACS were eventually bowled out for 183 in 28.1 overs, falling 27 runs short of the target as darkness settled and the ground lights took full effect.
Attention now turns to the night clash at Meten-Meer-Zorg, where ACS will face with Canal No. 2 Sports Club in what promises to be another exciting contest under lights as the touring side looks to return to winning ways and improve their tour record.
