Kjorn Ottley’s unbeaten 134 was the stand out in a day that 6 half-centuries were scored.
At Queen’s Park Oval, the Windward Islands Volcanoes made 254-9 in their allocated 50 overs. Their total was set up by Johnson Charles’ innings of 87 off 69 balls. Support came from Kavem Hodge (45), Alick Athanaze (39) and skipper Andre Fletcher (36). Yannic Cariah led the way with the ball for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force with figures of 4-57 from his 10 overs. Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets while Jayden Seales, Akeal Hosein and Jason Mohammed got a wicket apiece.
In response, a solid 112-run opening partnership between Ottley and Tion Webster gave the Red Force a good start. Webster was dismissed for 40 and was followed by Joshua Da Silva (2) but Ottley carried on fluently and brought up his century in 119 balls. His match-winning innings included 11 fours and 3 sixes and kept the Red Force in control all the way. A 15-ball cameo of 26 from Terrance Hinds allowed that T&T win with 12 balls to spare.

At Brian Lara Cricket Academy, the WI Academy defeated the CCC Marooners by 29 runs. After being asked to bat first, the WI Academy posted 318-8 from 50 overs. The main contributors were Teddy Bishop (95*), Matthew Nandu (84) and Leonardo Julien (51); each scoring a half century. Teddy Bishop’s shot-filled 75-ball innings included 14 fours and 1 six. Bishop and Nandu put together a 110-run stand and took the score to 220 in the 38th over before Nandu was run out. Nandu’s 84 came off 92 balls and included 7 fours and a six. Bishop lost a few more partners but continued to play freely to help his team reach 300. A quick fire innings of 24 from skipper Nyeem Young pushed the score to 318. Isai Thorne picked up 3 wickets while Abhijai Mansingh got 2.
In reply, CCC got another brilliant start from opener Johann Jeremiah who smashed 82 in just 65 balls. His 2nd wicket stand of 120 with Shaqkere Parris gave the CCC a solid platform and a good chance of chasing the target down. However, a few quick wickets and some tight overs from the WI Academy spinners placed pressure back on the Marooners. A 6th partnership between Akshaya Persaud and Shatrughan Rambaran gave CCC some hope but Matthew Forde exhibited his variety of yorkers and slower deliveries to swing the game back in favour of WI Academy. Eventually the academy team fell 29 runs short as they were bowled out in 49 overs.
