Skipper of CCC, Shane Dowrich led from the front with a masterful unbeaten 102 which gave his team their first win of this year’s Super50 tournament. After winning the toss, CCC opted to field first and restricted the Windward Islands Volcanoes to 267-8 in their 50 overs. Once again, Alick Athanaze was in the runs for the Volcanoes as he eased his way to his second half-century of the tournament. He top-scored with 65 while Jeremy Solozano (55) and Sunil Ambris (52) also got half-centuries. Bowling for CCC, Abhijai Mansingh, Isai Thorne and Jediah Blades each picked up 2 wickets while Kadeem Alleyne and Shatrughan Rambaran got a wicket apiece. In reply, Kadeem Alleyne (68) and Johann Jeremiah (30) gave CCC a solid platform putting together another 50-run opening partnership. The CCC chase faltered slightly when they lost 3 wickets with the score on 140. With the score on 140-5, prolific WI U19 batter, Jordan Johnson joined his captain and together they added a further 63 runs to take the score past 200. When Johnson was dismissed by Larry Edward for 34, the CCC still required 65 runs with 4 wickets in hand. It was at this point Dowrich began scoring the bulk of the runs and eventually brought up his century off 98 balls. Romario Greaves hit a cameo 14 including a six in the 50th over which took CCC close but he was run out off the penultimate ball of the innings. With one run still required off the last ball, Jediah Blades struck a boundary to seal victory for CCC. Bowling for the Volcanoes, Darel Cyrus bagged 4 wickets while Larry Edward got 2 and Shamar Springer got 1.
