At the Queen’s Park Oval, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes picked up their second win of the tournament when they defeated the West Indies Academy by 66 runs. Batting first, the Hurricanes posted 239 all out from 48.5 overs. Hayden Walsh top scored with an unbeaten 60 from 55 balls (3x4s, 3x6s). Kieran Powell (33), Keacy Carty (37), Jahmar Hamilton (27) and Justin Greaves (39) all got starts but failed to convert to big scores. Joshua Bishop grabbed 4 wickets for the WI Academy in a very economical spell while Ashmead Nedd and Matthew Forde each grabbed 2. In reply, WI Academy had a good opening partnership of 64 between Kimani Melius (37) Matthew Nandu (29) but crumbled once the two openers departed. They eventually were bowled out for 173 in 40 overs. Walsh bagged a 5-wicket haul as the spinners took advantage of conditions and accounted for nine of the wickets to fall.

At the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Red Force defeated the Harpy comfortably by 114 runs. Batting first, Trinidad and Tobago had good contributions at the top of the order with the in-form Kjorn Ottley scoring 52 and skipper Darren Bravo scoring 51. It was then left to Yannic Cariah to bat through and finish the innings well. He played beautiful cricketing shots as he scored a fast-paced unbeaten 71 off 48 balls. His innings which included 7 fours and 2 sixes helped the Red Force post 290-8 in their 50 overs. Bowling for Guyana, Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford and Captain Veerasammy Permaul each picked up 2 wickets. In response, the Harpy Eagles top 7 batters all got into double figures but no one got past 30. Cariah completed an all-round performance by picking up 5 wickets to leave the Harpy Eagles struggling. The regular loss of wickets meant that the Harpy Eagles got nowhere near the target set by the Red Force and conceded their first defeat of the 2023 Super50 campaign.
