Wilkinson’s half-century leads Demerara U17 to a 109 run victory over the GCB Select XI at Everest yesterday.
After winning the toss, Demerara chose to bat first and got off to a fantastic start taking 88 off the first 10 overs without the loss of any wickets. Openers Wilkinson and Deonarine Dindyal continued their good work after the first powerplay and extended their partnership to 107 before Wilkinson was removed by Arun Gainda for an even 50. Wilkinson’s 37-ball knock was the highlight of the innings as he showcased some powerful drives down the ground. He was supported by Stephon Sankar and Dindyal with 40 and 38 respectively. An additional 33 runs came via extras as Demerara posted 222 all out. Dave Mohabir picked up 4 wickets from his 9 overs. In reply, GCB Select XI could only score 113 all out in 41 overs. Omarion Smith top-scored with 31 while Parmeshwar Ram scored 19.
