American Cricket Society (ACS) Everest begin a high-octane 10-day tour of Guyana on Thursday March 12 with the first of 12 matches.
The side is made up of seasoned professionals who are eager to hit the ground running despite a major challenge according to Manager, Terry Hastoo. “Due to the weather, we could not go outside to practice as a team, but we are professionals, and we know what we are about. It’s not going to be easy but we have enough guys to rotate and get it done.”
ACS – Everest comprises of several Caribbean players who are now based in New York. Some of the players are former youth and First-Class players including captain Akeem Dewar, vice-captain Karan Ganesh, Aldaine Thomas and Bhaskar Yadram. Jamaican Dewar is a former WI under-19 leg-spinner while Ganesh is a former Guyana under-15 captain that went on to play internationals for USA. Thomas is an active Jamaica Scorpions wicketkeeper batsman.
This year marks the fifth consecutive year of Goodwill tours to Guyana since Covid-19 and will see some fresh faces including Kwame Patton Jr, Keeran Krishna, Michail Powell, Jason Rooney, Jagdesh Dowlatram, Ryan Francis and Jeremy Sandria.
The first match is a day game against Lusignan Sports Club followed by daily matches at various venues including Enmore, Bush Lot WCB, GCC, Everest, Eve Leary, DCC and Malteenoes while some night matches are carded for Canal Number Two, Enterprise Community Centre and LBI.
As per normal, locally based players will be added to the squad to offer knowledge and experience. The likes of Kevon Boodie, Suresh Dhanai, Ronaldo Renee, Chaitram Balgobin and Antony Adams will be on show while Keon Lake, Randall Wilson and Amarnauth Persaud will round off the touring contingent.
