The American Cricket Society (ACS) signed off their 2026 Goodwill Tour of Guyana in winning fashion, overcoming Police Sports Club by three wickets in an entertaining encounter at the Lusignan Community Centre on Saturday.
Chasing 200 for victory, ACS reached 203 for 7 in 23.5 overs to seal the result and finish the nine-match tour with a respectable record of five wins and four losses.
Earlier, Police Sports Club, after opting to bat, were steadied by a composed and well-constructed innings from Kemol Savory, who stroked 76 from 56 deliveries. His knock, punctuated by six towering sixes, came at a time when his side needed stability after a shaky start.
Police were rocked early by a double blow that shifted momentum firmly in ACS’ favour, losing West Indies player Quentin Sampson and Kevon Boodie in consecutive deliveries. That sudden collapse left the innings in early trouble and placed added pressure on Savory to rebuild.
Displaying patience and class, Savory responded with a measured approach, rotating the strike efficiently while punishing loose deliveries. He received support from skipper Kanhaiya Ramkarran (24) and Kyle Michael (31), whose late hitting helped push the total to a competitive 199 for 9 from their 25 overs.
ACS’ bowling effort was spearheaded by Jagdesh Dowlatram and Ryan Francis, both claiming three wickets to ensure Police never fully capitalised despite Savory’s resistance.
In reply, ACS were given a strong platform by Raymond Perez, whose fluent 65 from 44 balls made the chase significantly easier. Perez struck four fours and four sixes in a confident innings that kept the visitors ahead of the required rate from the outset.
He combined effectively with Aldane Thomas (47) to keep ACS in control, but Police fought back through Sampson, who snared three wickets to briefly raise hopes of a comeback.
However, those hopes were undermined by indiscipline in the field, as Police conceded 19 extras—runs that ultimately proved decisive in a closely contested chase. Bhaskar Yadram’s unbeaten 31 then ensured there were no late surprises, guiding ACS safely over the line.
The victory capped a solid tour for ACS, who showed resilience throughout the campaign.
At the conclusion, captain Akeem Dewar praised and thanked all stakeholders and sponsors who made the ACS Goodwill Tour of Guyana 2026 possible. He also highlighted his satisfaction with the live streaming coverage provided by FL Sport, noting its impact in showcasing the matches.
