The National Milling Company (NAMILCO) is the latest corporate entity to throw their support behind the Guyana Rugby Football Union – (GRFU)’s Under-19 selectees preparing for the Regional RAN tournament in Jamaica from 11 – 16 July 2023.
At a presentation ceremony on Monday at the company’s Agricola Head Office, Marketing Supervisor Alicia Anderson presented a cheque to Treasurer of GRFU Troy Yhip. The financial assistance will help the local ruggers in their quest to attend the championship which is slated for the Mona Campus. The ruggers last attended the championship in 2018 but are stepping up their training in the national park, Georgetown with sessions Monday to Thursday and game simulations on Saturday.
Earlier in May, Franklyn Victor of Romena Construction in the British Virgin Islands also made a cash donation to the cause which will immensely help the team of 26 athletes and 4 officials to comfortably take part in the tournament.
The last time Guyana participated in the event was in 2017 in Miami, USA.
