Everest Masters produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Enterprise Masters by 84 runs in their 15-over friendly contest on Sunday January 4.
Everest Masters opted to bat and amassed a competitive 137 for 5 and then skittled their opponents for just 53 at the Enterprise Community Centre Ground, East Coast Demerara.
City side, Everest Masters lost openers, Sahadeo Hardaiow (11) and Antonnel Atwell (12) early but recovered quickly before ending with a late assault.
Vishwan Lall hammered an unbeaten 51 off 35 balls (4x6s) and got support from Raja Pooran with 21 off 12 balls (2x6s) and Richard Chaturia who ended on 17 not out off 10 deliveries as Everest Masters closed on 137-5. There were 20 extras as well.
For Enterprise, Vivian Albert claimed 2 for 11 from his three overs, while Bishram Samaroo and Vishwanauth Gobin had a wicket apiece.
In reply, the hosts never recovered from a disastrous start and crumbled badly under cloudy skies. Only Albert (19 off 16 balls) and Rohan Mangal (10 off 9 balls) reached double figures, as the run chase ended at 53 all out in 12.3 overs.
Everest Masters’ bowlers shared the spoils with Shazam Ramjohn leading the way an outstanding spell of 2 for 4, while Lookeshwar Mahabeer claimed 2 for 12 and Luke Latiff, Trevon Garraway, Anil Beharry, Basil Persaud, and Surujdeo Ramdeen each picking up a wicket.
The emphatic victory underlined Everest Masters’ depth and discipline, as they outplayed Enterprise Masters in all departments to seal a convincing win to start the new year with a bang.
