Everest Masters Cricket Team produced another disciplined all-round performance to secure a 24-run victory over Laluni Sports Club in their 12-over clash, finishing with 108 for 3 before restricting Laluni to 84 for 8.
Batting first, Everest Masters were bolstered by a superb innings from Antonnel Atwell, who top-scored with an aggressive 44 off 27 balls, striking two fours and two sixes at an impressive strike rate of 162.96. He was supported by Vishan Lall (15) and Sahadeo Hardaiow (14), as the team built a solid foundation in the early overs.
After Atwell’s run-out in the 10th over, Everest Masters finished strongly, with Shazam Ramjohn (12* off 16) and Raja Pooran (10* off 7) adding valuable late runs to push the total to 108 for 3. For Laluni Sports Club, Sunil Sarjoo and Derrick Teyjnarine picked up one wicket each, while Troy Domingo and Sheldon Domingo bowled economical spells.
In reply, Laluni Sports Club started brightly through Nolan Hodge, who smashed 23 off 16 balls, including three towering sixes. However, a steady flow of wickets halted their momentum. Trevon Garraway removed the dangerous Hodge and Derrick Teyjnarine, finishing with excellent figures of 2 for 7 from three overs.
The middle order struggled to build partnerships as Lookeshwar Mahabeer tore through the lineup with a match-winning spell of 3 for 26. Sheldon Domingo (17) and Wayne LaRose (25*) offered some resistance, with LaRose providing late fireworks, but the target proved too steep. Laluni eventually closed on 84 for 8 from their 12 overs, falling short by 24 runs.
